Why? No idea, it wasn't an actual scene in the movie. Herman literally states 'I will make it my mission to get your father to like me,' and I don't think a single decision he makes after that point had anything to do with this promise whatsoever. Imagine it, a movie where every single character's motivations and personal obstacles and drama are all just dropped for a brand new conflict three fourths of the way through. The central conflicts of the entire movie: that dad doesn't like Herman, and that they're going to lose their castle, are both just dropped three fourths of the way through the film.
The movie wastes a huge amount of its runtime on absolute filler (we spent a weird amount of time on the guys who made Herman, when they don't actually matter in the slightest), reuses jokes over and over, and has absolutely no narrative thrust.
I didn't like a single character, and the story was a big bunch of nothing. I didn't laugh a single time, intentional or otherwise. I was really hoping this could be the next big 'so bad it's good' hit, but sadly it isn't.
